Sundog – The Dunes
Overview
Sundog the Dunes: A Beachfront Grace Bay Villa Rental on Smith’s Reef
Sleeps 10 | 5 Bedrooms | 5.5 Bathrooms | Beachfront, Grace Bay
Sundog the Dunes is a freestanding Grace Bay villa rental built directly into the sand above Smith’s Reef, where the shallows run clear enough to spot turtles and reef fish from the terrace. Part of The Dunes’ small private collection just a short drive from Grace Bay Club, the villa pairs contemporary architecture — disappearing glass walls, DellaRobbia and Roche Bobois furnishings, SONOS and Nest throughout — with an unhurried, sand-between-your-toes pace that guests come back for.
The layout separates the group without separating the group. Three ocean-view suites sit in the main house, two of them full masters, each opening onto its own stretch of glass overlooking the water. Two further one-bedroom pool cabanas — private, each with an outdoor shower — flank the pool on the far side, giving couples or grandparents a suite to retreat to after the rest of the party has gone quiet. In total, Sundog the Dunes sleeps 10 across 5 bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, spread over more than 6,700 square feet of indoor and outdoor living space.
The center of the villa is its pool terrace: a fire feature burns at the water’s edge, and a floating outdoor dining palapa sits just off the deck for dinners that don’t require anyone to put shoes back on. A second, beachfront plunge pool and terrace lead straight onto Sundog’s private dune, where low-slung nooks are tucked into the sand for reading, an afternoon nap, or watching the light change over the reef. It’s this dune — more than the pool, more than the palapa — that guests tend to mention first: a stretch of private beachfront that feels far removed from the resort activity just down the shoreline, while a Grace Bay villa rental of this scale still puts everything within easy reach for a family reunion, a milestone celebration, or a week that’s meant to slow everyone down.
A private chef has cooked for past groups (guests specifically credit meals that were fresh and carefully done each night), and the on-site team’s coordination — airport transfers, reservations, the small logistics of a group trip — comes up often enough in guest feedback to be worth noting on its own. Whether it’s a honeymoon for two using just one pool cabana or ten across three generations filling the whole villa, hosting help scales to the occasion without losing the privacy that makes a beachfront home feel like one.
