Villa Clara
Overview
Villa Clara: A Palatial Rome Villa Rental Facing Villa Borghese
Sleeps 8 | 4 Bedrooms | 6 Bathrooms | Parioli, Rome
This Rome villa rental occupies one of the most coveted addresses in the capital, standing directly across from the Villa Borghese gardens in the embassy-lined Parioli district. Built in 1929 by architect Arnoldo Foschini for engineer Adolfo Sebastiani, the villa’s Liberty-style façade — drawn from Greco-Roman architecture — gives no hint of what’s inside: amethyst wall panels sourced from Madagascar and the Ural mountains, gilded walls, and wood ceilings edged in gold, all restored and reimagined by French decorator Jacques Garcia.
Across 750m² and four levels, the villa holds four suites, each with a king-size bed, dressing area, and en-suite marble bathroom. Two open onto the ground floor; two sit on the floor below. Antiques from Italy, Japan, and China are scattered through the living spaces, alongside a grand piano and a library stocked for a slow afternoon. A separate 450m² staff and guest house sits on the grounds with its own entrance and a bedroom suitable for a chef or nanny travelling with the family. It’s the kind of house where a milestone birthday or a family reunion doesn’t need a single extra decoration — the rooms already do the work.
The lower ground floor is built for recovery days: a heated indoor pool with a swim-against-the-current system, a hammam, a massage room, and a gym fitted with a cross trainer, treadmill, and weight bench. Upstairs, the 250m² roof terrace is where the trip peaks — a Jacuzzi, a shaded dining setup, and 360-degree views over Rome’s rooftops, best enjoyed with a glass of something cold as the sky turns pink over the Villa Borghese pines. Below, a fenced 1,000m² garden and a table for twelve make room for long, unhurried dinners outdoors.
Villa manager and daily housekeeping are included as standard, with a private chef, butler, and additional staff hours available for guests who want the villa fully run for them. The concierge team can also arrange airport and helicopter transfers, a driver, 24/7 security, and wines from the cellar.
